Krewe of “Kids in the Neighborhood”

This is our neighborhood float Krewe.  We started in 2009 with a float in the Irish-Italian Parade put on by St. Thomas Catholic Church.  With so many kids in the neighborhood, we thought it would be something fun for them to do. Turns out it’s just as much fun for the adults.

We typically have a float building party on the day before the parade and invite anyone who is interested out to participate. To date the only “cost” has been to bring your own beads. However, plans are in the making to extend our participation in other area parades like the Christmas parade and the Night Out Against Crime parade in August.  If we do that, there may be a minimal charge per family to help cover the cost of expanding our float decorating abilities.

This year we won 2nd place in the Irish-Italian Parade!!!  Special thanks and kudos go to Jill Weist and Debbie Garvey for their design and initiative in coordinating the decorations of our float!!!
